About Us

Danny Murphy transport began operating on the 10th December 1984, at the time we noticed there was a gap in the market for truck mounted cranes. There were very few operators in Ireland at the time who were providing the service which we ventured into and we pride ourselves on the fact that we went from a small one man operation to one of Irelands major players in the crane and lifting business in a short period of time, a true sign of the effort, dedication and downright hard work which we put into creating the well renowned family business we still run to this day.

We have treated all our customers and clients with respect and professionalism from the very first day and give a safe and meticulously planned and executed service which many companies in our industry seem to have overlooked.

Our journey has taken us from being innovators in the industry to experts in all aspects of haulage and lifting. Initially, we operated a single truck mounted crane lorry specialising in the removal and installation of security safes, our reputation quickly grew and before long the fleet was expanding and we moved towards the transport of portacabins, containers and modular buildings, this was a massive step forward for us and it opened many doors for us.

We were one of the only a few companies operating truck mounted cranes and our company quickly grew as our customer base grew and the increase in demand for our services.
Towards the mid 1990's, we again realised the need to expand the company and we branched into the mobile crane hire business, again, this was a massive step forward for the company and our expertise was recognised by many including the Garda as their first port of call for the recovery of heavy vehicles all around Leinster and further aswell.

We were involved in many high profile recovery operations over the years. The crane fleet was ever expanding as was our reputation and our "Never take a lift from a stranger" logo was recognised all over the country.

We put a huge emphasis on safety, we feel it is the most important factor in any operation, all of our staff are highly trained and all of our equipment is safety tested above and beyond the industry norms, we do this for the safety of our staff, our customers and the guarantee that we will fulfil our responsibilities to the best standards possible.

We are still operating from our base's in tallaght and citywest, Dublin.
Our company and enthusiasm for the job is growing still, and we firmly believe if we can't do it, the job cant be done!!

We have listed below a few of the highlights from over the years, this is only a brief outline but we could write a book on the experiences we've encountered!!

During the war in Bosnia we were approached to bring humanitarian aid to the war torn country, this was something we immediately agreed to and began campaigning for aid supplies to be donated, this was a huge success and we set off to help the suffering of the people affected by this war, it gained plenty of attention from the media at the time and we are still proud to have been a part of it.

●2004 The Dublin Port Tunnel was a huge project undertaken in the capital city to relieve the heavy vehicle traffic from the city centre. We were contracted as the main crane hire operator for the entire duration of the project, this was a very high profile and high risk project and we had many thousands of hours of work without any issues or incidents.

●1997 As the tourism industry in Ireland was booming and people were flocking from every corner of the world to Ireland to trace their families heritage, we were approached to transport a brand new passenger ferry bound for Inishturk island in Co Mayo from the boat builders in Newbridge, Co Kildare to its launch site of Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin. This was a very tricky route, which involved many low bridges, low wires, narrow streets and an array of other challenges which many other companies would have shied away from, we set about planning the operation, from the best route, council permits, liaising with service providers regarding movement of wires all the way to the safe loading, transport and safe launching of the vessel into the quay in Dun Laoghaire, the whole operation was a massive success and again proved we were the first name mentioned when it came to moving any abnormal load.

●2004 Reign of Fire film set, Wicklow gap.
The Irish film industry were attracting all of Hollywood's finest, we played a massive part in the film set building in very tricky conditions on the side of a mountain in Wicklow!! Unfortunately the film was a flop which was no fault of ours!!!!! However we had contributed a huge effort in creating what was at the time an unprecedented film set in the Wicklow hills and we still have very fond memories of it all.
